If you have ever wondered about toxic chemicals in your household items, then the Citizen Science Corps is for you!

Citizen Science CorridorThe Citizen Science Corps (CSC) is a new project we're launching with the Ecology Center for people who want to know what chemicals are in their consumer products and homes.

You can participate in our first study right now by sending us a small piece of foam from a child's car seat, nursing pillow, crib wedge, or other children's product containing foam. Recently, high levels of toxic flame retardants have been found in children's products containing foam.

Manufacturers don't have to disclose whether their products contain these harmful chemicals, so you can't tell if your foam contains them. Citizen Science Corps to the rescue!

The first CSC project will conduct a survey of new and used children's products that contain foam to determine if they contain toxic flame retardants. We invite you to join the CSC and submit your foam samples! Click here to read more about preparing and sending your sample.
